A lucky find

My condo building saves up stuff all year and has a giant yard sale in October. There's a lot of seniors in the building (including me) and there's a few each year that give up their home for one reason or another. Well, this must have been in someone's stash for years....and I bought it all for $1.00! Lucky me!

Oooooh! you made a haul there!

You commented on my blog about the lace in leaf shapes. It is Venise lace that I've had for probably twenty years. I got it when I worked for a bridal shop. The dye job is recently done.

It looked so fragile, and unusual. One of the many aspects I love about CQ is that there are lots of treasures out there just waiting for us in the most unlikely places!

Hi Diane!
Allie here...you don't have an email listed so I am answering your question on my blog today here. Hope that's o.k...

Those shiny leaves were cut out of some lame fabric that had been backed with interfacing. Then they were fused onto the quilt...and then the veins were embroidered on with a rayon thread that has some glitter in it. They weren't beaded!
Thanks for stopping by and having a look...

...and that is indeed a lucky find you have there!
