No wonder chicken scratch embroidery was so popular back when. It's so easy, works up quickly and looks nice when it's finished. Here's yet another tea cosy. I did a different pattern on each of the two fronts. To see my other chicken scratch, click on "chicken scratch" in the label box below. There's also a tutorial for making this tea cosy. Click on the sidebar label for "tea cosy tutorial" It's basically made from four square blocks, the crazy quilt ones were, but this was made from one big oblong.
Added August 16, 2009. In my sidebar I have a gaget called "Feejit" that tracks visitors to my blog. I've noticed in the last few days that I have many, many visitors who are coming directly to this post on Chicken Scratch. I'd be interested to know where you made the connection. If you like you could leave me a message on this post please.

That is so pretty, your stitching in those colours shows up beautifully.
When I think of cozies... I think of Mama's Family and the neighbor that made cozies for EVERYTHING!!! I also see cozies in catalogs. The cutest looking ones are for vaccums... they have animals on them... they even have them for your WASHER AND DRYER... can you believe that!?! I would never cover up those delightful beauties (GAG)!!
I started a swap! Join if you would like to!! :)

Charming and delightful. Makes me want a cup of tea!
I found your blog while searching for info on a chicken theme tea cozy. Darling cozies! I don't know anything about "chicken scratch embroidery" so I am going to have to do some research. I think us chicken people are always on the search for a better scratch for our hens. My hens much prefer a scratch with mixed seeds to just plain cracked corn.
Diana I clicked on your post on scratchingpost
I found you via Pinterest. Amazing, nice :) I have been looking for some inspiration for xmas presents - I do not copy, but I love to see something cute just to "copy", be inspired by its feel, warm atmosphere of something made with love.
