2012 Challenge Crazy Quilt

This is  one of the three blocks that will make up a wall hanging on the Asian theme that will be my Crazy Quilt Challenge for 2012.
In between all the RRs that I have been participating in this spring, I've been adding the odd seam here and there to this block.  Another of the blocks went around in the Asian RR, and the third my sister is doing for me, so it will be an interesting mix of styles.

More stitching from my sister

A few weeks ago while my sister was visiting she started work on one of my Asian blocks.  Apart from seeing my CQ work, she had never worked on CQ blocks and hardly ever embroidered in her life before.  But she is very creative and has a good eye for design and colour.  So, while I was away in Florida she spent some time with Mum and picked up the CQ block again.  This is what she accomplished during her visit.  I left out Judit Baker Montanna's Elegant Stitches as a reference for stitch instruction.  Thanks Helena!

My sister Helena

My sister Helena visited us this past weekend and I put her to work!  She was a very willing worker! She's a very artistic person, first a dancer and now an innovative yoga teacher, so I had no qualms about her working on one of my Asian blocks.  I gave her my favourite little book of seam instructions and seam marker strips, access to my millions of beads and threads and just let her go with her imagination.

I really like the seams that she added.  But I think we have the beginnings of another CQ addict.  After embellishing all evening she didn't want to go to bed!

Three Asian Blocks

Finally, here are the three Asian blocks.  The one on the left is my original one that I made a bit bolder.  The lighting isn't the best, but you can get the general idea.
